Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are your usual lead times?

Our usual lead time is approximately 3-4 weeks from receipt of the deposit payment to supply and delivery. Lead times may vary depending on the product type, specification, colour, size of the project and current workload.

We will always confirm the expected timescale when preparing your quotation.

Yes. Our timber sash windows and doors are supplied as complete, fully functional products, including the box frame and sash where applicable.

They are fully furnished and finished with four coats of microporous paint, unless otherwise agreed in your quotation. This is included in the quoted price, so there are no hidden extras for the standard agreed specification.

Our business model is designed to keep overheads low without compromising on product quality. We do not operate expensive showrooms or large offices. Instead, we keep the process practical and direct, with mobile visits and samples brought to customers where required.

By reducing unnecessary fixed costs, we are able to offer competitive prices and pass those savings directly to our customers.

Yes. Most of our windows and doors are made to suit the property and the customer’s requirements.

We can supply and install timber sash windows, casement windows, French doors, bi-folding doors and other bespoke timber solutions. Sizes, opening styles, finishes, ironmongery and colours can be discussed during the quotation stage.

Yes. Customers can choose from a wide range of colours and finishes, including standard and bespoke colour options.

For painted timber products, we use microporous paint designed to protect the timber while allowing it to breathe. Final colour choices should be confirmed before production begins.

Yes. AWM Windows Ltd provides warranty cover in accordance with the written guarantee for the relevant products and installation works.

Warranty periods, inspection terms and product-specific guarantees will be clearly stated in your quotation or contract documents. Guarantees take effect once the works have been completed and all payments due under the contract have been made in full.

Yes. AWM Windows Ltd is CERTASS registered, giving customers confidence that our installation work follows recognised industry standards where applicable.

If certification is required for your project, this can be discussed and confirmed before work begins.

Once you are happy with your final specification and quotation, the order process is straightforward.

First, we confirm the details of the project and take the agreed deposit. We then arrange production, delivery and installation according to the agreed timescale. Any remaining balance is normally paid in line with the terms stated in your quotation or contract documents.

We will keep you informed throughout the process.

Planning permission is not usually required for like-for-like window or door replacement, but this can depend on the property and the type of work being carried out.

You may need permission or additional approval if:

  • the property is listed
  • the property is in a conservation area
  • the work changes the appearance of the building
  • the project involves a new extension, conservatory or structural alteration
  • there are restrictions or covenants on the property

We recommend checking with your local authority or a qualified professional if you are unsure.

Yes. Where the design and structure allow, doors and opening windows can be positioned to suit your preferred layout and practical requirements.

For example, French doors, opening sashes, casement openings or bi-folding door arrangements can often be designed around how you use the space. We will advise what is practical during the quotation and survey stage.
